MAIN DIRECTIONS OF BIG CITIES’ SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND THEIR TRANSPORT PLANNING OBJECTIVES

Abstract
The article provides definitions and characteristics of the concepts "sustainability", "sustainable development" and "livability", identifies objectives and presents directions for sustainable development of big cities’ transport systems. On the base of domestic and foreign experience, the research work reveals interaction between general activities aimed at sustainable development and increasing livability of cities and objectives of their transport systems’ sustainable development. Regarding this interaction, three zones of activities have been formed, distributed according to their development priority nowadays.
