Abstract
The article deals with development of public health and health care of the Vologda region in comparison with nation-wide indicators. Information base materials are made of state and departmental statistics, sociological surveys conducted by ISEDT RAS. The problematic aspects in the development of health care and public health of the region's population are determined. The main directions of improvement of health saving and demographic policy are identified.
