Abstract
During the Maoist period no worker could choose any labour subdivision, while a labour subdivision determined a worker’s identity under any legal and bureaucratic collisions let alone a number of aspects of the social life. It stands to reason that there existed workers who were unsatisfied with their lot, though everyone treated one’s own assignment as an iron bowl of rice which one could count on all one’s life. By that a worker’s relationships with the job were overflown on the one hand with self-restriction, and on the other hand with reliability and support. Liabilities bore mutual characters. A shift to the market economy during the period of reforms witnessed dismantling the model at issue. The labour subdivisions keep on existing even today, however the privatization has resulted in diminishing their influence. Now it is affordable for workers to negotiate with their administration especially in the private sector. No party is far and away inclined to promise. The reason is in changing values of the working youth which sets its own well-being and their families’ (often nuclear ones’) well-beings above the common god and the common labour.
