Abstract
Any state is characterized by internal social and economic differences that require regulation and control. One of the tools of this management is the development of networks of economic areas of the state or economic zoning. This article describes the complex phenomenon of economic zoning: its origin and development up to a full-fledged branch of economic science , as well as the value in the current economic regulation by the state.
