Abstract
The article assesses the food security of the Southern Federal District. Analyzes and criteria regional food security : the level of food self-sufficiency in the region , the degree of satisfaction of physiological needs of the population for basic foodstuffs , the level of economic access to food . For each indicator proposed criteria to evaluate on a scale food security as optimal, acceptable or low.
