Abstract
This article reviews the development and problems of strategic planning in municipal entities of the Russian Federation. Particular attention is focused on the definition of strategic planning, its main distinctive features. Defined the history of the formation and plan the role of the strategies put forward methods of implementation of the strategic development plan of the municipality.
