Abstract
Structural changes in the economy caused by the change of the next stage of technical and economic development, the need to actualize the development and implementation of strategies for economic development at the federal and regional level, involving the restoration of the internal potential of the economic system. Within the framework of the implementation of these policies, many regions are developing and adjusting programs, laws aimed at increasing the competitiveness of regional economies due to the intensive development of the separate branches of the industrial sector of the economy that will ensure an increase in economic growth due to the introduction of the achievements of a new stage of scientific and technological development. In this article the analysis of socio-economic development in the South Russian regions aimed at implementing the strategy of import substitution.
